I was such a lucky so and so at Christmas with the amount of makeup I received. I can’t remember the last time I had a proper good old makeup splurge. Sadly, being an adult has put a stop on my makeup habit slightly, as I figured paying the mortgage was a little bit more important than fueling my makeup needs. Luckily I have a very understanding Santa in the shape of my mum and she had my back with beauty gifts this year.
As one of my festive beauty treats, I opened up a MAC Liptensity lipstick in the shade Fire Roasted. I have been using this so much lately, so thought I would let you know my thoughts on it…
I must admit that I hadn’t actually heard of Liptensity by MAC before. I know of most of their popular finishes, but this was a new one to me. It’s amazing how quickly you can start to feel out of the makeup loop when you stop looking ha! Judging by the name, I figured that this lipstick was going to be super pigmented, so I had high hopes.
The packaging seems a little nicer than the standard MAC bullet. The lid is the same colour as the lipstick shade inside, so you can see which colour is in there without having to pick up each one.
Annoyingly the side of my lipstick has a slight scuff in it. I’m a perfectionist, so things like this really annoy me. I’m sure I will get over it eventually though haha. The colour of Fire Roasted itself is a deep brick red. It is a really bold shade, but isn’t too bright or too dark, like the Golidilocks of reds.
I really, really like this colour, it is perfect for the red phase that I seem to be in at the moment. Since my hair has been grey, I have found it a lot easier to wear a red lip, in fact it has been a lot easier to wear any colour really. Grey goes with anything, who knew?!
Fire Roasted really is nice and bold without being too in your face. It is one of those colours that apply pretty much the same as it looks in the bullet too, which is always good as there is nothing I hate more than bringing a lipstick home for it to look completely different. As it is a little richer in colour it doesn’t have that sharpness that some bright reds tend to have. I think this makes it a lot easier to wear.
In terms of staying power, this pleasantly surprised me. I find MAC lipsticks can be hit and miss sometimes, especially deeper colours. This was definitely a hit though, as it lasted for absolutely hours on me before it even started to show signs of fading.
I am really impressed with this lipstick and definitely want to check out more, I think Beetroot is next on my hitlist. ❤
