I can’t remember the last time that I bought a new lipstick. I have been trying to work through some of the shades that I already own, but saw the colours that are available in Urban Decay’s Liquid Lipstick range and couldn’t resist. A girl can never have too many lipsticks though and after testing them all out on my hand for ages, I eventually decided to leave with Purgatory.
The packaging of this is pretty similar to other liquid lipsticks around with the applicator wand in the lid. There isn’t really much you can do in terms of packaging to make it too different though aha. I do like the fact that you can see the shade inside the bottle without having to open it up first though, that helps my morning rush nicely.
Purgatory is the most beautiful metallic plum shade. I absolutely love it. Even though it is dark, I would say that it is still very wearable. I used two coats when I applied but you could easily make it less intense just by using one. The sparkle is unreal and perfect for the magpie in me. Once it has dried it doesn’t lose any of the glitter and become dull at all, it keeps the full metallized effect. I wanted to go for a colour that was slightly different to other shades I own and as I hardly own any sparkly lipsticks, this is perfect.
I never really know how to feel about liquid lipsticks. I hate it when they feel tacky like a lipgloss, there is nothing I dislike more than my hair sticking to my lips. Lucky for me this liquid lipstick isn’t sticky at all. After a few seconds it dries to the feel of a normal lipstick, giving enough time to apply and even out the texture before it is set. Once dry, you can run your fingers across the top and it doesn’t budge at all.
This lasted for about 4 hours on me before it started to show little signs of wear on the inner parts on my lips. Not bad considering I was eating and drinking in that time too. I always have this problem with any lipstick though, I think it is because I talk too much my lips are always rubbing together!
I think I am completely sold on these and will have to avoid all Urban Decay counters for a little while or I could risk going to buy them all. ♥
