Smashbox #Shapematters Palette

I have wanted to try contouring for such a long time. I love having a play with makeup, but contouring scares me as it seems like such a tricky one. There are two extremes, it can either be done amazingly and make you look like a supermodel or not so amazingly and you look like a dirty clown, there is no in-between. I went to Bicester Village last weekend and saw this Smashbox Shape Matters Palette on offer and thought it would be my full proof way of giving contouring a go.
Here are my first thoughts…

The palette is really pretty to look at and is split into three different sections each for brows, contour and eyes. It also comes with cards that link to your phone to show you tutorial videos. I haven’t been able to get these cards to work for some reason, but there are plenty of tutorial videos online to watch so it isn’t too much of a worry.

The set comes with a double ended brush, one end for brows and one for eyeshadow. You need to invest in some contouring brushes to go with this if you don’t already own any though.

The eyebrow section of this is very similar to Benefit Brow Zings in terms of combining wax and powder to fill in the brows. The shades are very similar to each other but easy to build on if you need them a bit more intense.

These shades look a little scary like this, but they blend like a dream. I didn’t realise when I first tried it that you only need the tiniest amount on the brush otherwise it just looks like mud. As you can tell, my tests have been going well lol!

The selection of eyeshadows is just perfect. The shades all work so well together and are great to mix and match. My favourites at the moment are definitely the middle three, they are just so shiny!
I am really impressed with this set so far, I just need to master the contour! I will keep playing around though until I have perfected my skills (not that I actually have any lol) and do a follow up post with how I got on shortly.

What a lovely palette! I like how it's really well rounded, had beautiful shades and you can achieve so many different looks with it. I don't buy too many products from Smashbox and I'm really not sure why. I think it's time I explore the brand more. Thank you for the post!

This palette looks soooo perfect and those shades look extremely pigmented – which I looooove. Smashbox do such amazing make up pieces, I have a few things from them but I would love to try this palette. Thanks for sharing! <3
