blue daisy

I have literally had the most unproductive week ever, which in a way has actually been really nice. I seemed to acquire the week off work for my birthday, which has actually worked out really well as the weather has been good..except today which has been storm central! All this sun has made me want to do a little bit of nail art too as it seems like forever since I last got the brushes out (when I say brushes, I mean dotting tool!)

I decided to go for little daisies using a dotting tool on my ring finger to get me in the summery mood. I know it's not the most elaborate design, but I think it's quite cute. I used ciaté ferris wheel as a base with models own blue glint on my ring finger. Then added the daisies using 17 'Mini Skirt' and Barry M 'Lemon Ice Cream'

I'm just hoping for the nice weather to come back so my nails don't look so out of place being so summery.

So on Sunday it was my birthday. I am literally one of these people that looks forward to my birthday every year but I found this year a little different. So far, 2014 has been pretty rubbish so I haven't really been looking forward to it or any occasion. As usual in my house, everyone pulled together to make the best of a bad situation and I had a lovely day!

I can't ever ask for a Purple Rain without singing it in the style of Prince.

My niece made me these cute little gingerbread cakes.

Sunning ourselves obvs.

What more could you want than a gargoyle in sunglasses?

I hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather! I have been a bit of a lucky so-and-so as I have had the week off so have been basking in it.

l'oreal super liner - black

l'oreal super liner review

I haven't brought a new eyeliner in such a long time, I find it is one of those staple items that I just tend to replace as I go along. I usually just renew my L'Oreal Blackbuster pen as it definitely is one of my favourites and seems to last me forever. This time I opted for something a little different and purchased L'Oreal Super Liner so I could create slightly finer lines. I have tried this in midnight purple before, but haven't ever tried the black version.

This style of eyeliners is definitely one of my favourites. I like the fact that it is sponge tipped as it seems to hold a lot more liquid. The tip is nice and long which makes it a lot easier to create an accurate flick as it is so pointy. I find that you can layer this to make a bolder line or keep it as close to the lash line as you need which is really handy although I usually tend to go for the thicker option myself.

I will say this needs a really good shake inbetween dipping the sponge, otherwise it doesn't seem to pick up any extra product, but otherwise this works really well. The staying power with this amazing, it lasts me a whole day without even budging at all. I even have a slight battle to remove it at night it is that good, not that I am complaining it means that I don't have to worry about being flickless where my eye makeup has smudged off. The amount of times this has happened to me is ridiculous, anyone else?

I want to apologise for my lack of blogging/social media-ness at the mo! I seem to be in my own little bubble these days, but finally I seem to be getting back on track, so thank you for sticking around!

MAC satin lipstick - snob

mac satin lipstick
mac snob review
uk beauty blog

I have had this lipstick for absolutely ages but have only really just started using it. I fancied a bit more of a lighter shade so picked up Snob from the MAC counter. I loved it instantly when I swatched it on my hand as I thought it was the perfect summer pink, a nice mix of dusky pink with a bit of a purpley nude tone thrown in.

Unfortunately for me I find the colour a bit stark against my skin tone and I always feel the need to tone it down slightly when I wear it. The shade is described as a 'light neutral pink' which I would say is pretty accurate for MAC as sometimes they tend to use some cryptic sounding shade descriptions! On me, it looks very cartoon like so I definitely have to layer it with something else to make it less in your face and barbie looking.

The finish of this lipstick is satin which seems similar to matte but with a bit more of a sheen to it. This is definitely one of the most pigmented lipsticks I own, although I do find it quite streaky when you first start applying but it does seem to even itself out eventually. I found this colour very similar to Saint Germain lipstick just a lot more matte looking. I think this would suit paler skin tones a lot more than mine, but I have found layering a another shade on top works perfectly.
