nail polish coding

What better way to spend my week off last week than to reorganise my nail varnishes! I showed you a long while ago (back when I first started this blog) how I store my nail products and my how the collection has grown since then!

I do love having my nail varnishes in this box, but I was starting to forget the colours that I actually have, which is awful and probably a sign that I really have too many. So I decided to use this idea that I have seen floating around from various polishaholics.

I brought a pack of white stickers and painted them with the varnish, which I then stuck to the lid..hey presto! This is literally such an easy and cheap method to store nail polishes whilst still being able to see what colour they are. Simple but effective!

l'oreal false lash flutter midnight blacks mascara - purple black

I have mentioned before on this little bloggle that I absolutely love the colour purple. So any chance to try something purple, I am there! My newest purple addition comes in the form of l'oreal false lash flutter midnight blacks mascara in the shade purple black. If you read my blog, you will know that I am such a fan of this range anyway, so was excited to see how a purple hint would make a difference.

The wand is exactly the same as the rest of the false lash range, with a slight curve which makes it really easy to apply. When I brought this, I was told to add an extra coat when applying so I have been trying this out with 3 coats.

This was honestly one of the hardest mascaras that I have ever had to photograph. So I have taken a photo in shade and a photo in daylight to try and see some of the purple!
I have to say I am slightly disappointed with the purple-ness as you really can't see it much. On the wand it has a slight violet tint, but when I put this on it actually disappears. Obviously I know that this doesn't claim to be an in your face coloured mascara and is supposed to be just a hint but it just isn't enough colour for me personally. I do love how this makes my eyelashes look lengthwise and volume-wise though, it's just the colour I am gutted about as I this was the main reason I brought this mascara.

I will say though, if you are not a fan of harsh black mascara's then this shade may work slightly better for you as it is not as bold as a solid black mascara can be.

woodland walks

As much as I love winter, sometimes I find myself becoming a bit complacent during the colder months. I find it so easy to just stay in all of the time and become a bit of a hermit. I think it's down to the darker evenings and being cold that I have to physically force myself out of the house..naughty Emmy.

Yesterday I decided to force myself out and go for a walk around my local woods, which was really fun and best of all free. Here's some of the pictures from my adventure!

How cute is that little hidden owl carving?! Apparently there is a monkey hidden too, but I couldn't find that one. My mission for winter now, is to get out more and find more fun things to do!

Do you like going for woodland walks?

sunday nails #48 - l'oreal color riche 'bling bling bang'

Hello loves, this week I thought I would show you the latest addition to my nail varnish collection and yes it is yet another glitter! But hey, you can never have too many glitters at this time of year so lets just say i'm being festive!

l'oreal color riche carat collection
l;oreal color riche bling bling bang

The shade I chose is called Bling Bling Bang which is from the l'oreal color riche carat collection and is a bright royal blue glitter with a slight purple tint to it. The formula reminds me of a gel slightly to apply, it has a sparse amount of glitter on the first coat but can be layered up easily. Although I wouldn't recommend layering it over another colour unless you wanted a slight blue tint to the colour underneath as the base is blue, not clear. The colour comes across a lot less purple than it looks in the bottle, I'm not too sure why but it does look a lot bluer in real life.

It takes 3 coats to get solid glitter and I thought after the first coat I was going to hate it as there was hardly any glitter compared to the bottle, but it shows that it pays to be persistent! The second coat really does make a difference. The finished look reminds me of nails inc.'s nail jewellery range down to the different sized glitter pieces and fullness of the glitter and its less than half the price too!

I definitely took advantage of the different 3 for 2 offers floating around and have Scarlet Tinsel to try next! I hope you all have a lovely rest of your Sunday!

when you touch me I die, just a little inside

With the colder months approaching, I started to feel that a new coat was needed in my life. I don't know what it is about coats, I absolutely hate wearing them. I prefer to layer up with jumpers and scarfs as I get hot so easily and theres nothing worse than a grouchy, hot Emily! Every year this seems to backfire though as I get caught in the snow and freeze, so this year I have invested in a coat like a good girl.

I am so in love with this coat and I know it will keep me really warm this winter. It's not too thick so I shouldn't get too hot and grumpy in it and the fur adds a nice snuggly finishing touch. I actually got this with money off too, as Debenhams had a promotion going on..amazing! Obviously I had to team it with my favourite DM's (any excuse to wear them)!

Random, but what does everyone think of Lady GaGa's new album? The line from the song Venus had been in my head all day, hence the post title. I love GaGa but even for me this album is taking a bit of getting used to, I'm not as in love as I normally am with it but maybe time will tell!

lately I been, I been losing sleep, dreaming about the things that we could be

Hello lovelies, today I am going to show you how I have been wearing my makeup lately now that it is getting slightly colder. It has been absolutely ages since I have done a FOTD, so thought I would do a wintery themed version. I really love winter makeup. There is something about sparkly/shimmery eye makeup on a frosty morning for me. This is the time that I tend to bring out all of the golds and bronzes (not that I don't wear them at any other time in the year haha!).

fotd

For this look I used Urban Decay 'half baked' from the trusty naked palette for the base and Urban Decay 'cobra' to create the eyeliner effect. I actually used a paint brush to draw on the eyeliner, sometimes I find them easier to create the flick when using an eyeshadow.

It has been so nice to play around with makeup this week, I am currently off from work. I booked a week off last year and definitely forgot about it, cue me having no money and spending a snuggled lazy week in, not that I am complaining! I think today is going to become Disney day and I am going to fit in as many Disney films as I can, any recommendations?

christmas gift ideas: fragrance

Every year I always seem to have a new perfume on my christmas list. There is just something so special about discovering a different scent and lets face it, everyone wants to smell nice! Lewis feels exactly the same about aftershaves, so you will always find us swapping fragrances at christmas. I usually stick to my trusty Jean Paul Gaultier, but every now again I will branch out and try something new..what a rebel!

Fragrance Direct has an amazing range of fragrances this year, especially with a bit of a his and hers theme going on. The range of fragrance and makeup on there is amazing, so there is something for everyone especially if you are sticking to a bit of a budget.

This perfume comes in the cutest pink packaging with a nice grungy rose feel to it. The scent is lovely and fruity with a slight vanilla hint. It's not too heavy for spring either, so it is defintely a scent you could wear all year round.

I absolutely love the smell of this. It is perfect for someone who likes a musky scent with a slight sweet overlay. Like the female version, it has a fruity hint but still keeps the masculine musk.

Originally I was going to add Lewis' opinions of the fragrances but in typical boy terms all I could get out of him was 'smells nice' although he did say he would purchase them both, which is good enough for me!

To me, both of these would make perfect gifts, both separately or to a couple. I do love when you get a shower gel as part of a gift set as the scent lasts forever that way.

sunday nails #47 - christmas fairisle print

So I think you guys may have gathered by now that I am a complete Christmas fanatic! If you haven't, where have you been?! Ha. Honestly, I love everything associated with the festive season. The sights, smells and obviously the food.

Recently, I went to Primark and treated myself to a lovely fairisle print throw that has been living on my bed ever since, I do love Primark for festive homewear. Every time I look at the design, it is just screaming to be painted on my nails, so here it is!

This is such a cute design for the festive season without being too over the top. What have you all been up to this lovely Sunday? I have been blasting Christmas songs, which haven't been going down very well with my scrooge parents!

christmas jumper wishlist

The festive season seems to be in full swing now, not that i'm complaining! If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I love Christmas, so the earlier the festivites start, the better for me! You will usually see me camped out in a christmas jumper from late november onwards, so I thought I would show you my current favourites.

rimmel scandaleyes shadow paint - manganese purple

rimmel scandaleyes shadow paint
rimmel scandaleyes shadow paint review

I cannot help but get tempted by 3 for 2 beauty offers, sometimes I think they are the devil in makeup form. Even when I have no money, I get drawn in like its some sort of crime to walk away. I'm such a sucker for a bargain and not one to let the side down, I started off my offer with a Rimmel Scandaleyes shadow paint. I like to be a bit different, so steered away from the golds and bronzes and chose the shade Manganese Purple.

Manganese purple comes across as a dark aubergine type colour. It has a nice metallic shine made up of fine glitter particles. If I'm completely honest, the packaging reminds me of a lipgloss, even down to the spatula style applicator. I found this applicator quite hard to use on the eyes as I ended up with a little too much product in some places and not enough in others before blending.

The pigmentation of this is amazing, the colour comes across bold in just one swipe. The only downfall is that the formula is really quick drying so you have to move fast to create the look you want. I never realised this straightaway hence having such a bold look above but hey at least you see how vibrant the colour is without blending! ;) The staying power with this is amazing and it won't go anywhere, I did experience slight creasing though, but again this could be down to me applying it slight too thickly to start with.

sunday nails #46 - midnight sparkle nails

Hello! I hope you have all had a lovely day. I have literally spent the day being freezing cold, who knows what I am going to do when the winter sets in properly. You will probably find me snuggled in bed with copious amounts of hot chocolate to get me through.

The winter is definitely where I have found my inspiration for this weeks nails, think winter evenings and glistening snow.

I used the nails inc. bling it on midnight set to create this effect. I love how universal it can be, but do find it really messy as it leaks glitter everywhere which can be quite hard to clean. For winter though this colour combination is perfect and really easy to do.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
