dermalex rosacea cream *update*

I posted a few weeks ago about a new cream I have been trying to reduce the signs of rosacea. You can read that post here! Like I said before your responses have been amazing, you lovely lot..virtual hugs all round. I said in that post that I would give you an update of how I have been getting on, so I thought I would show you how the most problematic areas of my face have improved.

Now I am not saying that this cream will work for everyone that suffers from rosacea, but as you can see it really worked for me. I find my cheeks and nose are the reddist areas and they have improved lots! My skin feels a lot smoother and more moisturised too. At first, I wasn't sure if I could still apply makeup on top of this but after leaving it to soak in for about 10 minutes I have been doing my makeup and it seems to have been sitting fine to me.

I have only been using this cream twice a day for about 3 weeks, I really wanted to do this post after 4 but I got a cold so avoided putting anything on my face for about a week (that would only ever happen to me!). Even so, this much difference in that short amount of time is amazing to me. I am honestly so happy I found this, even now I feel a lot more confident with no makeup on. I am looking forward to holiday photos even more so now as I don't have so much redness that I feel I have to cover and shy away from photos.

If you suffer from Rosacea like me, I really think this is worth a try. I had basically given up hope of anything that could mask the redness and I know it sounds silly but it's amazing how a clearer face can give you so much more confidence. You can find out more about how Dermalex works and the way that it manages Rosacea on their website!

If you want to try this out, you can get Dermalex Rosacea Cream* from Boots.

I am definitely trying not to let go of summer. I think my brain is so excited for holiday, that I seem to be missing what the weather is actually doing here at the minute. So I took this as the ideal opportunity to dream of ways to update my wardrobe ready for winter. revlon colorburst lip butter - cotton candy

As a person I am always late, you say 8 o'clock and nine times out of ten I will roll up at 8.30. It is a really annoying trait I have and the more I try to be on time, the later I seem to become. I don't know what it is, I just have an inability to get to a place for a certain time. Being like this, I am always late with trends too. Now I know that the hype surrounding the Revlon lip butters has been around forever, but this is actually the first time I have purchased one. When they first became popular, I really wanted to try them out but whenever I looked for them, they were always sold out. Since then, I kind of forgot about them until last week when I saw them in Boots so picked one up!

Revlon ColorBurst lip butter 'Cotton Candy' £7.99

The shade I chose was Cotton Candy, a lovely pastel pink with slight gold flecks to it. The colour is quite sheer but adds a really nice tinted shine to everyday lips.

The formula of these lip butters, like you have probably read 1000 times before is like a creamy balm. It glides along the lips with no drag at all and is very moisturising. It doesn't feel sticky on the lips and reminds me of the l'oreal rouge caresse lipsticks that i fell in love with before. I found the packaging of these really cute, with each case matching the shade that it holds. I love the clear window at the top too which makes it easy to spot the colour inside easily.

For me, Cotton Candy only seemed to last a couple of hours, which I think is down to the sheerness of the butter. My lips felt lovely and moisturised after the colour had faded though which is always a bonus, I just prefer something that lasts slightly longer.

I can see why these are popular as I seem to be grabbing this everyday for work as it is so easy to wear. They are really handy if you are going for a subtle makeup look and just want a tiny hint of colour on the lips.

sunday nails #43 - paradise nails

Its safe to say I am in holiday mode already, this time next week I will be in Tenerife, ahhh! I am so excited to escape all of my worries here for a little while! I seem to have become a pro for buying bikinis too, as I now have enough for one everyday, whoopsie! So keeping with the holiday theme I have created some paradise nail art!

I love a sunset, in fact its one of my favourite times of day. To me its one of those times where you can become so mesmerised, you forget what you are doing for a little while. I tried to create the effect of a sunset by doing a orange and yellow gradient and black silhouette over the top. As usual I was slightly impatient though and ended up putting my topcoat on slightly too soon, which smudged the black slightly.

I hope you have all had a lovely Sunday, what have you all been up to?!

bourjois magic nail polish remover

Now I don't know what it is about hyped products, I never really tend to believe in them. I don't know if it is the rebel in me that likes to go against the norm, but I never really tend to try hyped up products unless its something that I really wanted to try anyway!

Something that I have caved in and brought though is the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover, I must admit I have been slightly intrigued by the concept. For someone like me that loves painting my nails, a good nail varnish remover is a must.

bourjois magic nail polish remover
uk nail blog

This remover is quite a clever little contraption. All you need to do, is dip your finger in and twist slightly and any polish is removed when you pull your finger out. Now I will say that Bourjois claim this can all be achieved in 1 second, but I think it actually takes about 10-15 seconds. Not that those extra seconds make it the longest time in the world but don't be expecting 1 second miracles!

The smell on this is quite strong, once you open the pot you get hit by the scent. I can't really smell any Red Fruit or Vanilla, all I seem to get is acetone which is strange as it doesn't contain any. Its not an entirely unpleasant smell, just a bit of a punchy one! Don't let this put you off though, because the product is actually really good!

Another amazing thing is that this actually removes glitter polish too, It takes about a minute per nail but after soaking glitter is basically removed. To me this is such a godsend, as one of the main reasons I don't wear glitter as much as I wan is because of the pain in the bum removal. Now this is solved though, squeee!

After using this once, this is all I ever use to take my nail varnish off now. I can safely say this is my new holy grail product. If only I had believed the hype earlier!

i live for the applause, applause, applause

Now that I am feeling better, I thought I would show you the outfit I wore to my friends wedding a few weeks ago. Ideally I wanted to do it as one big post with nails and everything but I wasn't feeling very well on the day so have waited until now to take photos! You can see how I had my nails on the day here.

It honestly took me forever to find an outfit and the dress I found actually had money off too, which is always a bonus! Being one for last minute trips, I managed to find something 2 days before. I think I definitely work better under pressure!

Now I know the outfit is cream and I would never normally dream of wearing this colour to a wedding. I wasn't trying to be a moron and upstage the bride, it was a lovely Indian wedding so cream was allowed as the bride wore red (I also had my legs covered on the actual day too!). The picture above showed how I had my makeup on the day too, I tried to keep it simple mainly because I was worried of it smudging with my cold. I don't know what it is, I always seem to get ill over a special occasion.

I do love a good wedding! Don't you?

bourjois shine edition lipstick - grenade in

When I went to my friends wedding last week, I obviously needed to get myself a new lipstick. I wanted something I hadn't tried before, that didn't blow the budget for me either. In the end I chose a Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick, I think it was definitely the packaging the sold it, I do love a pretty product case. Told you, I must really be a magpie. After much swatching, I settled with the shade 'grenade in' a lovely berry colour.

Grenade in is a cute little raspberry shade, which leans quite pink on me.

The formula is nice and shiny but still really comfortable to wear. Its shiny but not in a glossy kind of way. It feels like more of a balm which makes it nice and wearable without being too over the top. The colour payoff of this is really good considering it is quite gloss like, it still manages to have the opacity of a full on lipstick which is nice.

This lasted for about 4 hours on me before the glossiness faded, although I was left with a lovely stain on my lips which lasted a good while afterwards. Bourjois say that this contains 'mango butter to moisturise for up to 10 hours', but for me it really didn't last this long. I suffer from dry lips anyway but I found the moisturising qualities wore away with the shine slightly, although I used a balm over the stain that was left which added a bit more of a muted touch.

I really do like this lipstick, especially the colour and I do like the shiny qualities too. I think I want to try the shade 1,2,3 next!

you lift my heart up when the rest of me is down

Is it just me who loves the feeling of getting a haircut? Honestly there is something I really adore about someone playing with my hair...not in a weird way though! I got my hair cut last Friday after months of growing it long. Earlier in the year I got a bit of a pixie crop to level off my hair, I had a bit of a Frankie Sandford going on (short on one side) and it was an absolute pain to grow out, so I had to go really short to basically start from scratch. It looked uneven for so long and I really can't believe how quickly its grown!

I decided to get a full fringe cut in, with a few layers and voila, my new look..

Since having my haircut, my dipdye has shown up lots too which is a bonus! I was toying with the idea of having it cut short again and I'm so glad I didn't! I love it, perfect for autumn.

What do you guys think?

sunday nails #42 - models own 'sunset chillout'

You know when you find a nail varnish that just oozes summer, well I think I have found mine! I know this probably couldn't have come at a worse time with the weather starting to change season and summer slipping away, but being one to hold on to the last moments of summer its perfect for me.

Sunset Chillout is an amazing mix of blue, gold, orange and pink flecks of glitter. It is part of the hed kandi collection which inspired by the colours of Ibiza so you can imagine the sparkle of this in real life. This polish can be layered over another varnish for a more scattered effect or layered on itself to create the above look.

I really love this polish and can't wait to see it sparkle on my holiday in 2 weeks (so excited!)! I hope you have a lovely rest of your Sunday!

models own nail polish - magenta divine

I have actually been really good and not brought a new nail varnish for a little while now. When I say a little while, probably a few weeks but for a nail polish addict like me this is an achievement. I love a glitter nail varnish as you all know, especially if you read this post. So when I spotted magenta divine on the models own stand near me, I knew I had to have it.

Magenta Divine is a beautiful fuschia glitter polish. It is made up of thousands of same sized glitter pieces which catch the light amazingly. The polish feels slightly thick on application, almost like a gel. This does mean it takes a good while to dry, so make sure you use the thinnest layers you can to prevent smudging.

The polish is a fully opaque glitter in 3 coats, but could easily be layered over another polish too with less coats depending what you are after. I will say that the shine of this glitter is amazing and again it slightly reminds me of a gel finish. I only really used a topcoat to stop the glitter feeling so rough, but for shiny purposes it really isn't needed! I am so happy with this colour, I keep staring at my nails in the sun watching them sparkle!

If you are a fan of pink and glitter, this polish is definitely for you!

revlon lash potion mascara

Yesterday was definitely one of those days! I started off really optimistic that I would get lots of photos taken for the blog and get lots of bits done but instead I spent the day eating fudge and cake, feeling sorry for myself with a cold! Not that the fudge and cake are a bad thing though, who doesn't love a bit of sweet goodness to cheer themselves up!

I did manage to take a few photos of a new mascara I picked up on Friday though. As it was payday, I couldn't resist and literally ran to the shops to pick up some new makeup treats! I needed a mascara and as Revlon is on 2 for £10 in Boots I picked up the Lash Potion mascara to try.

Revlon Lash Potion mascara by Grow Luscious £9.99

I have to admit, I have never really tried Revlon products before. I have heard such good things about their lip butters (I definitely picked up one of these as part of this deal!) but haven't really made the splurge to try Revlon until now.

To be completely honest with you, it was the packaging that made me notice this mascara. The actual tube is metallic purple, pink and green and is so pretty. The tube makes me think of fairies and magic..probably why the mascara is called potion, no flies on me eh?

Revlon claims that this mascara is both volumising and lengthening and for me it definitely provided both. The length of my lashes look lovely with this mascara on, even after the first coat you can see the instant change. My lashes appear a lot thicker, although they did tend to clump slightly in places so I had to be really careful when applying.

The brush has hundreds of tiny little bristles on it which enable you to cover every lash with ease. Personally I like a bit more of a curved brush on a mascara, as I find it a lot easier to apply, but that is just personal preference as the coverage on this is still really good. The colour I chose was Blackest Black, although it comes in Blackened Brown too. I wasn't looking properly and ended up getting the non-waterproof version but it does come in waterproof too. So just make sure you double check whichever one you are after!

For the price, this mascara is really good. It does everything it claims to do and looks so pretty as well!

sunday nails #41 - wedding nails

Before we start, obviously I understand it is Monday. I haven't got confused with the days, I was at my friends beautiful wedding yesterday, so didn't have time to do this post. I was intending to schedule, but I have started to get what I think is a really bad cold mixed with tonsillitis so haven't really had any time to do any blogging due to sleeping all of the time!

I thought I would show you how I had my nails yesterday at the wedding! I will do a separate post with my outfit sometime this week too, but I felt so rubbish yesterday that my ill face was not something I wanted to splash all over the bloggle, so will redo an outfit later!

uk nail blog

I went for simple nude nails with a splash of glitter on the ring finger. I am such a fan of putting a bit of detail on just one nail. I always tend to pick that one, I think it may have something to do with a pretty ring that sits on that finger these days! My outfit was quite sparkly so I didn't want to detract from that too much either!

Did you do anything exciting yesterday?
