l'oreal confetti topcoat

Firstly, I must apologize for my lack of blogging this week. I have honestly lost track of time everyday, you know those weeks when time just runs away with you? Well that has been me this week, sorry I have been so rubbish!

I did manage to track down the popular l'oreal confetti topcoat this week though. I was literally just browsing around Asda of all places and there it was like a beacon of light glaring at me, so obviously it had to be picked up!

I layered this topcoat over grey to tie in the black and white, but I think it would look amazing over so many different colours too! The application is really good, each brush stroke is jam packed with glitter pieces, so you don't have to worry about having to apply 5 coats just to get a decent amount of glitter. I haven't attempted to get this off yet as I love it so much, although I am hoping it isn't as annoying as normal glitter, I will keep you posted though.

MAC 'saint germain' amplified creme lipstick + nail lacquer

mac saint germain

I was such a lucky ducky on my birthday, not only did I recieve MAC 'feel my pulse' lipstick from the Mr. I also got MAC 'saint germain' lipstick and nail varnish too. I am actually so proud of him as he chose this himself. I try to avoid makeup shopping when he's with me as I feel rushed and that is something that you definitely shouldn't feel during these crucial shopping trips. Obviously he pretends not to be interested but is actually taking it all in, he actually knew where to go which was a start! :)

This lipstick is extremely pigmented and full on barbie pink. It is so creamy and becomes opaque in only a few swipes. This is the first amplified lipstick I have tried and the formula is amazing, you really can't fault the colour pay off. Unfortunately I really struggled to get this colour to suit my complexion, I know I am going to sound really ungrateful for saying this, but i'm really not! You know when a colour is just not you, I really wanted to love it as its the first bit of makeup Lew chose for me himself, but it's just so not my colour. Personally I think it would be much more suited to paler skin tones, with quite bold eye makeup. The colour is also a favourite of Lady GaGa, gotta love a bit of Gargs!

This nail varnish shade on the other hand is perfectly me. Again its a lovely barbie pink and very creamy looking, the colour really reminds me of candy floss. My only niggle with this is the application, it took 3 coats and still looked really streaky, in the end I gave up and put a top coat on which actually ended up evening the colour strange?! Anyone else find this? The colour is so cute, it's so worth it though.

You can find Saint Germain nail varnish and lipstick on the MAC website here.

sunday nails #28 - adventure time!

I hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday weekend, luckily the weather looks like it is finally perking up here in the UK. Just in time for me to go back to work tomorrow after the rainiest week off ever! The rain has had some advantages though, it meant I was stuck in and was able to do this Adventure Time nail art that I have been thinking of doing for a good while.

The Mr was actually the one who got me into Adventure Time and now I must admit after the first episode I was hooked. For anyone who doesn't know what Adventure Time is, its an amazing cartoon which follows the story of Finn the human and Jake the dog and their adventures in the land of Ooo. Honestly if you get a few spare minutes have a peep.

It took me such a long time to decide which characters to do as there are so many good'uns, I just knew Marceline had to be included as she's my favourite! I won't list every nail varnish that I used as it would be half a blog post on its own, but if there is any shade that you want to know the name of, just ask :)

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the long weekend!

a little thankyou..

As I started to write this I realised it was my 200th post and it made me think about how far this little blog has come since I first started. I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone that visits this blog, I really don't think I say thank you enough. Every comment or pageview really means so much and it's so nice to chat to you all. Now honestly numbers don't mean a lot, but even seeing people have viewed this little bloggie makes me stupidly happy. This blog started off as a little hobby for me as I loved reading other blogs and wanted to become part of the blogging world. Now I honestly think of it as part of my life and couldn't imagine not doing it anymore. Whenever I write a post, I get drawn into my own little blogging world and it's so nice to share things with you on my little corner of the internet and hear your thoughts.

Anyway, before I go off on an even bigger tangent, I just want to say thank you again for all of your support I honestly appreciate it more than anything!

illamasqua inspired speckled eyes

Hello lovelies, today I tried a little experiment. I know, I know, I am slightly late with this trend. I have been meaning to try it out for ages but just never managed to find the time. Illamasqua are always a brand that intrigues me, their collections and values are amazing and encourage people to be unique, which is so refreshing to see!

Now I don't own an awful lot of their products, its not lack of wanting to, its just nowhere near me sells them so I have to rely on online swatches. Personally I am more of a hand swatch kind of girl, so tend to stock up as soon as I find a counter. I was browsing online and came across a tutorial for the speckled eyeliner look from the I'mperfection collection. I decided it was time to try it out and added my own twist on it.

I used l'oreal superliner luminizer eyeliner in 'blue' as the base and added the speckles with illamasqua presicion ink in 'glister' to make it look like cut out sections of eyeliner. I do need to hunt down a white eyeliner to try this look properly though.

What do you think? Is speckled eyeliner your kind of thing?

if they could love like you and me, imagine what the world could be

It's amazing how an item or piece of clothing can bring back so many memories. I have had this bag for years, I brought it after I first discovered Iron Fist and it is honestly one of my favourite bags ever. It's so different and brings back my love of werewolves, although I am usually Team Edward.

iron fist wolfbeater bag
iron fist wolfbeater bagiron fist wolfbeater bag

It's sad that whenever I use this bag I always get shown how judgemental some people can be. I can't not walk down the street without stares and disgusted looks, not that I'm fussed I just hate the way people judge if they see something they don't personally like or something that doesn't conform to this cloned style that seems to be going around. This bag always shows me that there's nothing wrong with being unique! :) Sorry, went off on a slight tangent there..

The bag itself is a lovely size and the bows on the handle add that cute feminine touch, although as you can see they are a fluff magnet! I brought my bag from Schuh although its now a few seasons old so eBay is the best place to get your hands on one these days.

Are you a werewolf fan?

MAC temperature rising 'feel my pulse' lipstick

I received this lipstick for my birthday, from the lovely fiancé..I have definitely trained him well. I always find that it's deadly going to my local MAC counter as I never leave empty handed and could easily have one of everything. Although this time I created a mental shopping list and provided a few gentle hints..wahoo.

MAC temperature rising collection cremesheen lipstick 'feel my pulse' £15.50

I don't usually comment on the packaging, but the colour of this is lovely. Its a really cute bronze twist on traditional MAC packaging and looks really classy, so gets a big thumbs up from me.

Feel my pulse, is a beautiful vibrant magenta, although I will say that the photos do not do it justice. In some lights it looks more purple and in others a vibrant pink, it really is an amazing colour perfect for a night out. This lipstick is part of the temperature rising collection, so yet again is another limited edition. The formula is cremesheen, which I mentioned before is one of my favourites although I do find on some colours this finish can really start to wear quickly. I had this on nearly all day on Sunday and I only needed to top it up once which I was really impressed with, although a lip liner is a must to stop feathering.

I really think this is my new favourite vibrant colour, although it is sold out online but its worth checking your local MAC counter to see if you can get your hands on one.

birthday love

birthday cake and candle
I love it when mum bakes cakes.
Birthday flowers.

The biscuits were already over the floor, promise!
me and lewis

So Saturday was my birthday! I had a lovely day, although it was a bit of a bittersweet day. On Friday Lewis' dog passed away, which was heartbreaking and meant that we weren't in the full of celebratory mood we would normally have been in. I still managed to have a really cute day though, full of cake and Disaronno. We had a small family gathering which was really lovely and we played pass the parcel which is compulsory for birthdays according to my 4 year old niece. It was also Eurovision on my birthday. Double win as it's one of my favourite evenings..personally I wanted Greece to win, their song was too amazing.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend too, what did you get up to?

sunday nails #27 - sugar skull

Hello lovelies! Today I am going to show you the nails I sported for my birthday yesterday. I had a lovely little day and will share some pictures of what I got up to in a post tomorrow.

Last week my mum brought me some nail decals..don't ya love an early birthday present! I have mentioned countless times how much I love skulls and when she gave me these sugar skull decals I instantly fell in love!

Now I was a bit silly when I chose the base colour for the decal, I chose nails inc. 'shoreditch' thinking that it would of been a nice vibrant pink for the skull to sit on. Although I didn't realise the colour of the actual skull is transparent not white, so not alot of the detail shows up, therefore a lighter colour is probably a better choice. I do like the effect this colour gives though, as it looks like the skull has been etched onto the nails. Next time I will try a lighter colour like a nude or pastel to show off the colours and pattern on the skull.

The decals are from a website called YRnails and if you are a fan of nails decals then it really is worth checking out. They have hundreds of water based decals and most of them only cost £1. My personal favourites are the 'boo ghost' and the 'cute raccoon', these will definitely be ordered when payday comes.

DISLAIMER: These cute little things were brought for me by my mum as an early birthday gift.

favourites: red lipsticks

Recently I have become really into red lipsticks, I wear them nearly all the time and this colour is my first port of call if I am going out somewhere. Today I have narrowed my collection down to show you my top 5 favourites.

l'oreal rouge caresse 'aphrodite scarlet' (post)
I honestly get fooled by this lipstick every time. I haven't gone mad, the bullet looks full on red, but it comes out more of a candy pink. Although it does have slight darker red tones to it which is why I have still included it. The texture is a lovely balm type and very moisturising too.
barry m 121 lipstick swatch
Barry M 'shade 121'
This is a very vibrant red, with real orange tones to it. It is probably the most drying red I own, so a balm is definitely needed beforehand. The colour is very pigmented although it can tug slightly, so is best applied with a lipbrush.
l'oreal color riche red passion lipstick swatch
l'oreal color riche 'red passion'
The truest red I own, the closest to postbox red I have. It has a slight shimmer to it, but not enough to make it a frost effect. Its perfect teamed with a black winged eye.
mac ronnie red lipstick swatch
MAC 'ronnie red' (post)
I love this lipstick, its red but with a slight pink undertone to it. This is a perfect lipstick if your slightly afraid of bold reds. The sheen to this lipstick is beautiful and its actually one of my favourite reds of all time.
l'oreal color riche feeric fuschia lipstick swatch
l'oreal color riche 'feeric fuschia' (post)
This is a nice berry red, really cute for when I am having those darker looking days. It has a slight glitter effect to it with lovely purple tones.

So that's my collection of reds! Whats your favourite shade of red?

swartzkopf live color XXL 43 'red passion'

Now I'm not going to lie, I am useless. I had all of the photos I wanted to take for this post planned, but then I got so engrossed in the actual process of dying my hair that I actually forgot...what a donut!

I really missed the red tones from my hair after I stripped all of the colour back to brown. My hair was a mismatch of colours, but it really wasn't a nice mix and made me feel like I wanted it all cut off again..okay slight exaggeration, but I really didn't like it. I knew to get it back to a nice red I needed to go with a brand I always seem to use for reds, Swartzkopf. I think Swartzkopf dyes can be very hit or miss, sometimes my hair takes really well and others you can barely notice the difference. The shade I chose was shade 43 'red passion'. I have used this shade before, but just as a red top up not a drastic colour change. This time I could really see the difference, maybe as I haven't dyed my hair for a good few months the colour managed to take better, who knows but I am really impressed. Onto the photos I actually managed to take..

natural hair before dying
red hair after dying

You can see now my hair is quite a vibrant red now and oh how I have missed it! The only thing I dislike about this dye is the smell. Its as though they have tried to cover the ammonia smell with a fruity scent, but it actually makes the ammonia stench much worse so it is really not needed. Other than that I am in love with my red hair again and really would recommend this hair dye to anyone.

MAC baking beauties 'lavender whip' lipstick

The only thing about finishing work early is that I never seem to go home straightaway, I end up window shopping instead, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it usually progresses from window shopping and actually costs me money. I went to Debenhams to see what new bits they had and I wasn't disappointed by what I found. I started to swatch my way through the MAC Baking Beauties collection, although my usual luck with MAC collections is that I choose my favourite and everything ends up being sold out. Surprisingly though there were quite a few items that were still in stock and eventually I decided to treat myself to Lavender Whip lipstick.

mac baking beauties lavender whip review

Lavender whip is a milky lavender with a slight pink tone to it. It is a cremesheen finish which is one of my favourite MAC finishes, so it has a good colour payoff and provides a nice moisturising shine. Lavender Whip is a re-release of a shade from 2008 although looking at swatches from before this shade is a lot pinkier than the previous version. The baking beauties collection is amazing, honestly the colours look good enough to eat (get it?!) although they do make me hungry for cakes.

my pandora bracelet

They say every piece of jewellery tells a story and theres nothing I love more than looking through my nans or mums jewellery and hearing all of the stories relating to them. I love that a simple ring can have the most romantic story or that a bracelet could have a funny little joke attached to it. As you can probably tell I am a little bit of a sentimental sod, so any little gift that I receive or anything that gets passed down I really treasure. This is why I love my Pandora bracelet so much, every little charm tells a story and I want to tell you about each one today.

pandora bracelet
pandora bracelet filled with charms
pandora frog dog bunny charm
FROG - I brought this on holiday in Tenerife, just before Pandora bracelets first became 'popular' I found this cute little jewellers that sold Pandora beads and I knew I had to have this as it is a little reminder of that holiday.

DOG - This was a gift from my mum, on a daily basis I seem to ask for a puppy but this is the closest that I have ever got to owning one. It may not be real, but it makes me smile whenever I see it. We have 3 cats, so a dog is not really a good option, especially as one of my cats seems to be the spawn of Satan.

RABBIT - This was a birthday present, again from my mum. I love rabbits, so again because of Satan cat I have to live with a charm instead.

pandora elf bird rainbow charm
ELF - I got this for christmas one year, if you read this blog over christmas you will know this is my favourite time of the year. So this bead makes me feel all christmassy.

BIRD - This bird is really cute to look at and was another gift from my mum.

RAINBOW BEAD - I love rainbows and sparkles, so this was the reason behind treating myself to this bead.

snowman heart bee swirl charm
SNOWMAN - I got this bead for christmas one year from my mum. I am one of those really annoying people that actually love snow. The first thing that I do as soon as it starts settling is build a snowman. Mum always says I am like a big kid, so now I have a permanent snowman.

HEART SPACER - This was one of the first beads I got, I remember the days when it was swirling around the bracelet all on its own as I couldn't afford any other beads. I love hearts so this is the perfect bead for me too.

BEE - When I first started my bracelet, this was the one bead I wanted more than any other. I don't know why, there is literally just something about it, I think it must be the crown. I saved and saved and then on holiday in Tenerife (when I got the frog charm) it was sitting there and I had enough spending money left to get it and it was cheaper than the UK, was super chuffed!

SWIRL BEAD - I found this bead so pretty and treated myself for no other reason than I liked it. No story here guys, sorry!

gingerbread crystal ghost charm
GINGERBREAD MAN - I love gingerbread men, case closed. Lewis brought this bead for me, to celebrate my love of that man shaped biscuit.

CRYSTAL BEAD - Another bead from my mum, so sparkly! I do have these in a few more colours but the little gems started to fall out of them not even a month after I got them. Not one for returning things (this was before I had to deal with horrid customers myself, nowadays I will return like the best of them!) I just took them off the bracelet. Bad quality there lovelinks...

GHOST - Along with the bee, I wanted this bead more than anything. It still is one of my favourites, I nagged my dad for weeks until I got it.

pandora heart elephant pink charm
HEART - Lewis got me this bead for my birthday one year. Pretty self explanatory this one really, I suppose he can be romantic at times..

ELEPHANT - Elephants are one of my favourite animals, I really love them. So this one is an homage to my love of elephants.

PINK MURANO BEAD - Not really a story behind this one, my bracelet needed a splash of colour and this was the first bead that I brought myself with one of my first pay packets back in the day!

So thats the story about my bracelet, even talking about these beads bring back so many memories. Do you have any jewellery with stories? I would love to hear about them!
