late birthday gift

Amongst everything else I did this weekend, I finally managed to catch up with one of my oldest friends. We never get to spend much time together any more, but when we do its always nice. As we haven't seen each other for a while, he gave me my birthday present (not that I expected anything of course!) A beautiful necklace from Tatty Devine..

Although I have seen the name mentioned on a few blogs and places, I have never really looked properly. This necklace is amazing, I absolutely love it and its definitely safe to say that since receiving this I have made a huge mental wishlist of items that I now need in my life!

If you haven't already I would definitely recommend checking their website out..Its full of amazing little bits!

weekend round-up

I'm so sorry about the lack of posting over the weekend, it has been absolutely hectic, which is unusual for me, usually I just slob around all weekend, but this one was completely different!

On Saturday I went to see one of my favourite bands play..Red Hot Chili Peppers! Eek. I brought the tickets for my boyfriend for his birthday, hoping he would take me too. Just a present for myself really ha. They were absolutely AMAZING, just brilliant. We had such a good time, even if we did get drenched and lost trying to find my dad who was picking us up! I couldn't see a thing, but I didn't really mind, see my boyfriend is over 6' and I am only 5'2 so wherever he stood he could see and I always ended up with brattish kids in front of me blocking my view completely. That still didn't detract from the amazing gig though!

Sunday was my best friends 21st birthday which I am still paying for now. A nice little BBQ and big amount of drink! This isn't so good when you get called into work at stupid o'clock!

Hope you have all had a good weekend, did you do anything exciting?

it's fr-EYE-day #1 blue and gold

So I had the idea for doing a regular eye make up post each week. At first I wasn't too sure how it was going to work, but then I had a dream which I thought of the word fr-EYE-day (very cliché I know!) and kind of knew this post had to be done on Fridays! I'm, just going to experiment each week with different colours and styles and go from there really.

This weeks eyes are blue and gold, I hardly ever use blue on my eyes, because sometimes I feel this is too harsh for me on its own, but I think using a muted gold made it a lot more subtle.

That annoying little hair that I never noticed until the photos were uploaded to the computer, gah!

Eyeshadow - Urban decay 'Sidecar'
Eyeliner - MAC Technakohl Liner 'Smoothblue' and Maybelline Liner Express 'Black'
Mascara - L'oreal False Liner Express 'Black'

I hope you like my new kind of post, let me know your thoughts? Shall I make this a regular thing?

nails inc. 'new burlington place'

There's nothing I love more than two-tone colours! Just the way they catch the light and change its like a magic trick! You can really tell how easily pleased I am..Ha. Anyway, I knew that in order to catch the beautiful effect of these I needed to use this rare thing, that I have only spotted a few times in England..sunlight! So the first opportunity when the sun made its annual appearance I hoped outside to take some photos!

This was another varnish that I received here. It's a lovely mix of deep metallic glittery pink that shines to coppery orange in certain light. Perfecto!

splash of sparkle

The sun has got his hat on..hip, hip hip, hooray! Well for now anyway, no doubt it will be pouring down again tomorrow. I always feel that whenever the sun comes out I need to put glitters on my nails in some form, just to watch the glitter sparkle in sunlight, a bit like Edward Cullen!

Sorry about the state of my nails in the pictures, I have the roughest hands ever. Like a builders hands hehe!
I have tried so many different hand creams, so any suggestions let me know!

I used nails inc. Pink Power (this was a freebie with InStyle magazine in May Post) as a base. This colour seems to be featuring on my handies quite alot, but I just love its pastel creaminess, reminds me a but of a milkshake! Then on my ring finger I used nails inc. Marylebone to create a nice little sparkle!

What do you lovelies think?

EOTD - green and gold

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved playing with eye make up. It was the one thing that I started to experiment with when I was first allowed to wear make up. For me, the brighter and bolder is definitely the better. As people say the eyes are the window to your soul :)

Today I experimented with green and gold, I looked at me green work trousers and the idea kind of just popped into my head...

To start I covered the eyelid in Urban Decay 'halfbaked' from the naked palette. For me, this is an absolute staple piece, i think I must use it everyday in some form. I then lined the bottom of the eye with this shadow too. I used Urban Decay 'Covet' 24/7 glide-on eye pencil along the top of the lash line and just a short line along the corner of the bottom lash. This was all topped off with 2 coats of Max Factor 'Masterpiece Max' mascara.

Have you tried anything different with your eye make up recently? Post me a link in my comments so I can see!

nails inc. 'westminster'

Just a quick post to show you one of the nail varnishes I recieved in my 'lucky dip' post. As soon as I opened it, I knew this was the colour that I wanted to try first. I love a good purple!

This colour is amaze-balls! Its a creamy violet, that applies in opaque on just one coat. You can see I finally managed to grab a bit of sunshine for my picture to get the colour accurate!

Unfortunately I think this colour may have been discontinued as I can't find it on the website, but it is available on eBay (here).

Thankyou for reading!

nails inc. jubilee lucky dip

Now anyone who reads this blog will know I am in love with nails inc. It's one of those brands that I just smile at the mention of it's name, but the price point does mean that its usually saved for special occasions or when I really need a little treat. So I love it when every so often they do a lucky dip selection online at a discounted price. This may seem familiar as I have brought one of these before but I wanted to try it again to see what polishes I got this time. This particular offer was '6 polishes for £15 during the jubilee weekend' which is a bargain as they are £11 each. Unfortunately I worked the whole weekend so couldn't blog this amazing offer, but my lovely mum placed an order on my behalf, she knows me well! But I will keep my eyes peeled for another offer. The only downside with this  is you really don't know what you will get until they arrive, but this may also be a flip side for others.

Here is what I got...

L-R New Burlington Place, Westminster, Paddington, Culross Street, Chelsea. Old Park Lane
This selection is like it was made for me, It is so varied and there really isn't a colour that I wouldn't use. This selection is much better than the one I received before, I loved that one at the time but this has trumped that by miles!

I wanted to show the colours I received for anyone that may be interested in these offers but not too sure what to expect. Now I am not saying these kind of offers are for everyone, as you don't have any control over what you receive, but if you have a varied taste and don't mind getting colours that you may not necessarily buy then I would say go for it! Any that you don't like could be used as gifts anyway! ;)

Have you tried any lucky dips or similar offers?

MAC mineralize eyeshadow 'young punk'

I have wanted to try this eye shadow for absolutely ages, but unfortunately bills and petrol always seem to get in my way! For my birthday I got a MAC gift voucher and as soon as I opened it, I knew this would be one of the items I purchased! The mineralized affect reminds me of lava on a volcano, or liquid metal, I actually squealed with happiness when I got this home!

Left side - Applied with finger
Right side - Applied with eye shadow brush
The colour is beautiful! It is described as 'Mineralize black with pinkish purple pearl' and it couldn't be more accurate. Purple is one of my favourite colours anyway and the metallic/pearly effect makes it even better. The good thing about this eye shadow is that on first application, it goes on nice and sheer but opaqueness can be built up with each layer, which is good if you don't like eye shadows that are too heavy.

This is how it looks with a sweep of the eye shadow on my upper lid and in
the corners with 2 coats of mascara.

Have you tried this amazing eye shadow? I really want to try 'Cinderfella' next, a stunning black and silver mineralized eye shadow!
